How to make our Bread (One loaf):
Ingredients
1. 3 1/3 cups o high grade flour
2. 2 tsp of yeast
3.1 tsp of salt
4.1 1/2 cups of luke warm water
5. 2 tbsp's of butter
6. 2 bowls
Method:
1. Melt the butter and set aside.
2. In another bowl, mix the flour, salt and yeast together.
3. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the water. Mix well.
4. Turn the dough mix out onto a floured board and knead for 8-10mins. The dough should spring back when pushed with a finger after this time.
5. Use the melted butter to grease the sides of a clean bowl. Place the dough in this bowl, making sure to grease the dough with the butter. This is so the dough mixture does not dry out. Put glad-wrap over the bowl, and leave in a warm place. Leave the dough for 45 - 75 mins, or until the mixture has doubled in size.
6. Turn the dough out on a floured board and punch the bread - this is to remove the excess air, and to stop the bread tasting to much of yeast.
7. Knead the bread for a further 3- 4 minutes. Shape the bread on a greased and lined loaf tin.
8. Brush the top of the bread with the remaining melted butter. Leave for 30 mins or until the dough has risen 1 cm above the loaf tin.
9. Bake in a pre-heated oven, at 200°C for 30 mins, or until golden brown. Tap the top of the bread before removing from the oven. If it sounds hollow, the bread is ready!
10. Enjoy with butter and jam!
