Bread making

Today in science we made bread, sherbet and hokey pokey.

How to make our Bread (One loaf):

Ingredients

1. 3 1/3 cups o high grade flour
2. 2 tsp of yeast
3.1 tsp of salt
4.1 1/2 cups of luke warm water
5. 2 tbsp's of butter
6. 2 bowls

Method:
1. Melt the butter and set aside.
2. In another bowl, mix the flour, salt and yeast together.
3. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the water. Mix well.
4. Turn the dough mix out onto a floured board and knead for 8-10mins. The dough should spring back when pushed with a finger after this time.
5. Use the melted butter to grease the sides of a clean bowl. Place the dough in this bowl, making sure to grease the dough with the butter. This is so the dough mixture does not dry out. Put glad-wrap over the bowl, and leave in a warm place. Leave the dough for 45 - 75 mins, or until the mixture has doubled in size.
6. Turn the dough out on a floured board and punch the bread - this is to remove the excess air, and to stop the bread tasting to much of yeast.
7. Knead the bread for a further 3- 4 minutes. Shape the bread on a greased and lined loaf tin.
8. Brush the top of the bread with the remaining melted butter. Leave for 30 mins or until the dough has risen 1 cm above the loaf tin.
9. Bake in a pre-heated oven, at 200°C for 30 mins, or until golden brown. Tap the top of the bread before removing from the oven. If it sounds hollow, the bread is ready!
10. Enjoy with butter and jam!

Even more science

Today we did some awesome experiments. We did 3, but my favourite one was making a lava lamp.We made it by filling a small coke bottle a 1/4 full with water and filled it up to 3/4 with oil. Then we put in a dozen drops of food colouring. Then we got two berrocca tablets and broke them into 1/4's and put them in.Then we quickly put on the lid and walla! you have a lava lamp.

P.S. The lava lamp only lasts as long as the berrocca tablets bubble so you have it for 1 or 2 minutes.

Science

Today we did science. We did lots of cool experiments. My favourite one was when we made a balloon blow up with gas from baking soda and vinager. Another cool one was making a fire extinguisher using baking soda and vinager (again). And that was some of the things we did in science last week.

Hi Isabella.
It was great to see you make such a positive start to your return to Enrich for Term 4. You settled in our science talent development group, and were eager to conduct the activities and experiments today. The points you raised when we were analysing our results for each experiment were well thought out, and you used prior knowledge to guide your thinking process. Keep up the great work Isabella.
Katie.

Ice-Cubes

This morning we did our talent development. I am in Science. We did two experiments with 6 different ice-cubes.The first one we had a raro, sugary and a plain ice-cube and we saw which one melted the fastest. Then we did one with a plain one with salt and one with sugar and one by itself. Interesting fact 1.The salt burns through the ice, it is weird. 1st picture is raro ice cubes and the 2nd is plain ones.
