 Positives:

 - Watchng Katie being really scared when going up the water tower. When I think about it, most things I have done are positive.

Negitives:

- See not a lot of bad things is there!

Interesting:
- Eye dissection

- And much more but there is too many to say

Wish me good luck for next year :)

Eye Dissection

Today at Enrich I did the eye dissection workshop with Darryn. We dissected a - dead of course - pigs eye. It was awesome. We learnt about all the different parts of the eye including the iris, pupil, cornea, lens, aqueous humour, retina, tapetum, optic nerve, blind spot and the vitreous humour. Stephen and Violet had to go away because they felt sick when we cut the eye open. Did you know that the eye is very rubbery but tough. We know that because Darryn tried to cut it with a razor blade but it took a long time to cut. I think that the eye dissection workshop was the best workshop ever.

Our Special speaker

Today at Enrich we had a special speaker called Grant. He works for Sea Shepherd. Sea Shepherd is a orgainisation that tries to stop the Japanese whaling. He talked to us about all the boats and their statistics. I thought he was really interesting. He also talked to us about when he went on a trip as the boats engineer to Antartica. I thought it was cool how he told us about how when he was trying to get to sleep in bed he had to have a special canvas wall to make sure he didn't roll out. I personally think he was a great speaker.

My Garden

This is my garden I designed as part of our Must Dos and Pick for this fortnight.  The design brief I chose was for a garden and pool area for a family with 3 children. The red roof is the house. The clothing line is beside it to hang up the wet clothes. The swing is there so when it is a nice night the family can sit out and watch the sun go down. There are paths to go to most of the activities so if the grass is wet and mushy they can take the path. The trees on the path are there so if it is a hot sunny day the children can sit under the trees and read a book. The pool is there so the kids can go swimming. I put the diving board there so they can have fun and jump off the board. I put the deck chairs there so the parents could watch the kids in the pool. I made the chairs multicoloured because the kids might think it looks cool. I put the vege and herb garden there so they can grow their own fresh produce. I put the pond and the bridge there so the kids could walk across it and look at the fish. That is my garden.

Passion time

Today in Passion time I went on the laptops and looked up some science experiments on Steve Spanglers website. There were some AMAZING experiments on there. We chose to do a Cornstarch Goo experiment. To make it in to goo you have to get some cornflour and mix it into water until it it is gooey. Walla!!! Then you can put in some food colouring to make it the colour of your choice the first batch we made we chose to make it light blue and the second batch green. I think that cornflour goo is awesome how it goes hard we you squeeze it and we it is exposed to air again it goes back to a liquid.

Last Day At Enrich For The Term

Today at Enrich I made some bath salts. First of all we got 1 cup of Baking Soda and mixed that in to food colouring. For the first lot we choose green for our colour. We then added a little bit of water and mixed that in as well. But in our first lot we accidently put in too much water. It ended up looking a little like snot. So we made a second lot. In our second lot we did the same thing but made it pink. This one worked out so we added in our crystals in. I had an awesome day at Enrich today. Yeah holiday time.

Strapping

Today at Enrich Kate, Pippa, Anais, Mum and I went to the Saw Mill to get our table legs strapped together. Our legs were made out of newspapers all rolled up. There is four legs and 40 papers in each leg so all together we rolled up 160 papers but ended up rolling up 80 extras so we used them to make two stools. We also went to the Art Supplies shop and got some waterproof consealer to put over top of the cardboard tabletop so if someone spills something on it it will not go soggy and yuck. Now we are going to paint on the consealer. And that is my day at Enrich!

Painting

Today at Enrich we are painting the little dots for our recycled table. The dots are going to be the table top while they will be glued to a big sheet of cardboard. The colours we are using are orange, yellow, purple, green ,blue and red so if you don't already know we are doing them multicoloured. There is four of us so Anais is doing orange and yellow, Pippa is doing blue, Kate is doing green and red and I am doing purple. Wow I just can't wait until we have finished painting all those dots.

Today we added the arms to our minion and tally up how many cans we will need. All together we will need 381 cans. 188 yellow ones, 65 black ones and 118 blue. We had to work out the radius, Diameter  and the Circumference of each tins. One of the photos is the chart and the other one is my blueprint.

Talent Development

Today in Talent Development we were talking about how our rugby jersey was going too be to hard to make because we need too many cans. So we decided that we would not make a rugby jersey anymore. We chose a "Despicable Me" Minion.  So we got on to Active Inspire and we made a blue print. I think it looks pretty cool so what do you think?

Canstruction

Today we did Talent Development. For Talent Development I am doing Canstruction. Today we did a blue print on Goggle Sketch Up. It was really really hard, and really really frustrating. We had to make all the little cans all 384 of them and put them in shape and colour them. Mine looks like a monster. We are trying to make a wall of cans that will hopefully end up being a Highlanders rugby jersey. This is what we are trying to make.

Hi Izzy,
I was impressed with your enthusiasm towards our maths talent development today.  Thank you for emailing our can salesman and setting up the meeting for the group! Are you looking forward to seeing the possible cans we could use? It’s going to be a big mission!
See you next week
Alana

Passion Time

Today we did Passion Time. For my passion time I am doing science. Today we did 2 experiments. The first one we did was a rubber egg experiment and we have to wait until next week and then we did a magnetic one. The magnetic one was with a nail and we got a big magnet and tied the nail to some string and cellotaped it to the table and the nail floated around to the magnet. It was really cool. I cant wait until next week to see if our egg works.
